Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 October 2026

This page explains what Beirut Restaurant does with the personal details you give us through this website. We keep it short because we collect very little: there is no account to create, no newsletter and no tracking.

1. Who is responsible for your data

Beirut Restaurant, 24 Nicolson Square, Edinburgh, EH8 9BX, is the data controller for this website. For anything to do with your personal data, email info@beirutrestaurant.co.uk or call +44 131 667 9919.

2. What we collect, and when

Browsing the website collects nothing personal. We only receive your details in three cases:

  • Bookings. Table bookings are made on Manjelier, a booking service run by Di Capitan Ltd. Manjelier handles your name, email, phone number and the details of your booking (date, time, number of guests and any notes) under its own privacy policy. We see your booking so we can have your table ready and contact you about it.
  • Forms on this website. If you write to us through the feedback form or the contact form, we receive your name, email, phone number if you give it, the date and time of your visit if it applies, and your message. The form is delivered to info@beirutrestaurant.co.uk as an email through Resend.
  • Email and phone. If you email or call us directly, we keep that correspondence like any business would.

The forms include a hidden field that only automated bots fill in, and the server keeps your IP address in memory for up to 10 minutes to stop the same address flooding the form. Neither is saved anywhere.

3. Why we use it and on what legal basis

To look after your booking and to answer what you write to us, and for nothing else. For bookings, the legal basis is taking the steps you asked for before and during your visit (Article 6(1)(b) UK GDPR). For messages and feedback, it is our legitimate interest in replying to you and in running the restaurant properly (Article 6(1)(f)). We do not send newsletters, we do not sell your details and we do not use them for advertising or profiling. Any marketing in the future would only happen with your separate, explicit consent.

4. Who else is involved

  • Manjelier (Di Capitan Ltd, United Kingdom) takes and stores your booking.
  • Resend delivers the forms to our inbox.
  • Vercel hosts this website and, like any host, sees your IP address and browser details when you load a page.
  • Google Maps loads on the contact page when the map section comes into view. At that point Google can receive your IP address and use its own cookies.
  • Google receives your visit if you choose to leave us a review, because reviews are written on Google, under Google's own privacy policy.
  • Deliveroo handles deliveries on its own website and app, under its own privacy policy. We only link to it.

These providers only process what they need to do their job. We do not share your details with anyone else, unless the law requires it.

5. Transfers outside the UK

Resend, Vercel and Google may process limited technical data in the United States. They do so under the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or standard contractual clauses, which are the safeguards the UK GDPR requires. Manjelier processes bookings in the United Kingdom.

6. How long we keep it

This website has no database of its own. Messages and feedback arrive as emails and are deleted within 24 months of the last exchange, sooner if what you raised is closed. Booking details are kept by Manjelier as set out in its privacy policy. If a message becomes part of a dispute or a legal matter, we keep it for as long as that requires.

7. Cookies and analytics

This website sets no cookies of its own and uses no analytics or tracking. The only third-party content that can set cookies is the Google map on the contact page, which loads when that section comes into view. If any of this changes, we will update this page first.

8. Security

The website is served over HTTPS and the forms are checked on our server before anything is sent. No system is completely secure, but we keep the amount of data we hold as small as we can.

9. Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you can ask us to:

  • send you a copy of the details we hold about you,
  • correct them if they are wrong,
  • delete them,
  • restrict or object to how we use them.

Email info@beirutrestaurant.co.uk and we will reply within one month. For details held by Manjelier, you can also write to them directly. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

10. Children

The website is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect details from anyone under 16. A booking for a family should be made by an adult.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this page when the website or the law changes. The date at the top tells you when it was last revised.
